The whole team came up through Fly Oz before they came back to teach. The product worked well enough that they wanted to teach it.
We take up to 12 students for our courses. Bigger schools run classes of 25 to 40. That's why their timelines blow out. Ours do not.
Cowra Airport puts the training area on our doorstep. No long taxis, no transit to a distant area. Lesson time is flying time.
Flight test examinations are conducted at Fly Oz. Theory exams are sat at the Orange exam centre.
We have two choices for our Instrument Rating. The Baron is significantly used by charter companies around the country and is a highly regarded type that employers are looking for.

Our graduates are flying for charter operators across Australia, regional and major airlines, and agricultural aviation. Others have come back to instruct the next intake.
In November 2026 we’ll publish a graduate outcomes report covering our students since 2013. Where they started, where they fly now, how long it took them to get there. We believe it is one of the first of its kind from an Australian flight school.

We are upfront about timelines. Most students finish close to the planned course duration, and if extra training is needed we will talk about it honestly.
Our career changer students are typically between 30 and 45. Aviation rewards patience and common sense. Both tend to come with age, not in spite of it.
VET Student Loan available. A VET Student Loan can cover the cost of all courses. The loan carries government indexation and a 20% loan fee, spreading the cost over time. You do not start repaying until you are earning above the repayment threshold.
Aviation in Australia has such a significant sector, that pilots are needed to fill a range of different jobs. Our courses teach and give experience to make our students employable in the workforce.

The Beechcraft Baron and Duchess are both sought-after aircraft for building Multi-Engine hours. Students choose one or the other for their Instrument Rating course - each highly regarded in the industry.

Fly Oz is based at Cowra Airport in a brand new classroom and hangar facility. The classrooms are fitted with the latest projection technology and individually air conditioned, and separate study rooms give you the space to work without interruption.
The hangar was built with room to grow, so we can take on new students at any time.
No prior experience is required for our diploma pathways. We start from the very beginning. Your first lesson is in the aircraft, with your instructor introducing you to the controls. The only formal requirement is meeting the CASA Class 1 or Class 2 medical standard, which our team will walk you through before enrolment. If you have flown recreationally before that is a bonus, but it is not expected.

Most students serious about an airline career choose the Instructor Ready Triple Diploma. Airlines typically require 1,500+ hours minimum. Working as an instructor after graduation is the fastest and most financially rewarding way to build those hours you get paid to fly rather than paying for hours.
The Charter Ready Diploma is the right choice if you have a clear pathway in mind that doesn’t lead to the airlines. Not every pilot wants to fly for an airline some of our students go on to become agricultural pilots, fly charter, or pursue other specialist aviation careers. If that’s your goal, the Charter Ready Diploma gets you qualified and into the cockpit efficiently.
Cowra’s inland climate gives us more flying days a year than most coastal locations. When the weather does close in, training continues in the simulator, ground school, or theory sessions. The plan is designed to keep you progressing whatever the conditions.
Yes. Around a third of our students are international. We are CRICOS registered, which means we are approved to enrol international students with all protections required under Australian law.
To enrol, international students will need a Student Visa (Subclass 500), a CASA medical certificate, and sufficient English proficiency. The visa process runs through us you apply to Fly Oz first, and once we process your enrolment we submit the application to the government on your behalf. Your visa is then issued from there. Our team handles all CRICOS enrolment documentation and will guide you through every step of the process.
