Why does the aircraft choice affect the cost?

Your aircraft choice can change the cost of your Instrument Rating training.

Beechcraft Duchess

A multi-engine aircraft used for instrument and advanced flight training, offering a practical pathway into multi-engine IFR operations.

Beechcraft Baron

A higher-performance multi-engine aircraft used for advanced IFR and multi-engine training.

Yes. A VET Student Loan is available for all our courses, and most of our students use one. It's a loan from the Australian Government, not a discount or a scholarship. It creates a debt owed to the Commonwealth, indexed each year, with a 20% loan fee added to what you borrow. Repayments start once your income passes the compulsory repayment threshold. To be eligible you need to attend a minimum of 20 hours a week face to face and maintain 80% attendance of your scheduled training.
All Fly Oz courses. The commercial pilot licence (AVI50222), instrument rating (AVI50519) and flight instructor rating (AVI50419) are all VET Student Loan eligible, including when studied as standalone courses.
You apply as part of enrolling with us. Once you've chosen a course, we help you complete your enrolment and your VET Student Loan application together, so you're not working through the paperwork on your own.

What our students say

I completed my Multi-Engine Instrument Rating at this college and found the training to be well-structured, focused, and professional. The environment supported growth, with instructors who truly cared about helping students become confident, capable pilots.

Charter Pilot

Having been to a few flight schools for various licences and ratings, Fly Oz has by far been the best experience on my Aviation Journey. All the staff are amongst some of the nicest, helpful and genuine people you’ll meet in Aviation who show the utmost respect and care for you and your training needs. They set a high standard for quality over quantity and produce highly competent and confident pilots in the industry through their ability to help you realise your potential in a positive training environment.

Amelia Newington

Charter Pilot

I’ve just completed my Design Features Endorsements (Retractable undercarriage & Manual Propeller Pitch Control) with Fly Oz. I cannot speak highly enough of the professionalism displayed from the CEO/owners down through to the office staff and the 3 instructors I dealt with (I have no doubt the others are just as brilliant given how the organisation is run).
