The Private Pilot Licence (PPL) course follows straight on from your RPL. You learn to navigate across the Central West of NSW using aviation charts and traditional techniques. You also fly into controlled airspace, with multiple flights to Canberra (Class C) and Bankstown (Class D). The PPL syllabus is designed to be completed in 12 weeks full time. It can be shorter if you have already passed the CASA PPL theory exam.
A PPL lets you fly as pilot in command anywhere in Australia, carry up to five passengers and share the cost of your flying . To stay current you need a flight review every two years, and three take-offs and landings in the previous 90 days before you carry passengers.
From here you can add night flying, instrument flying or aerobatics.
