Fly Oz instructors always enjoy variety in their instructing day, including flying IFR revision into Canberra Airport in a King air with an amazing panel. Mark really enjoyed his morning in this lovely aircraft. Christian had a fly in a nice Mooney for an IPC and Lyn and Mark had flights in Seminoles.
Our own two Duchess aircraft were worked hard this week with Ben conducting IFR training (in lovely cloudy weather) with Ben Pride and Allison working with McKenzie Graham as she prepares for her initial multi engine class rating.
Rodney took some local special needs gentlemen for a flight around Cowra in one of our Cherokee aircraft which everyone really enjoyed.
The students who participated in our last two week IREX course are now starting to take their CASA exams. Doug Lam had a wonderful result with 88% and he is one of the students in our Diploma of Aviation Instrument Rating AVI50519 course. Bailey Stanmore, who was also in the class, passed with an outstanding 90%!
During our regular Thursday staff meeting, Allison did a short presentation for our instructors on the upcoming changes to the CASA regulations with the Part 91 changes. On the 2nd December 2021, new regulations will commence covering flight operations. Information about these changes can be found here.
The new regulations will also effect CASA theory exams after the 2nd December as well as the theory part of flight reviews and proficiency checks, so we all have some learning to do to make ourselves familiar with the changes.
Friday’s BBQ was very popular for a rainy day with over twenty hungry people flocking to the hangar for a nice BBQ lunch and hangar talk. It was lovely to welcome some new faces to our table this week. We had lots of people at Fly Oz studying, flying locally and learning in the simulator. As usual, Cherie and Ray did a great job preparing the BBQ and Paul made a great BBQ chef. The Friday BBQ is becoming a popular highlight of our week and we always welcome all students and friends to join us.
