4.9 Star Student Experience
At Fly Oz in Cowra, NSW, there are two pathways. Charter Ready takes 12 months and costs $139,107. Instructor Ready takes 14 months and costs $174,707. Both include a multi-engine instrument rating, which makes you an ideal candidate for employers. Both are eligible for a VET Student Loan.
If you want to understand the full path before comparing schools, start with our guide to how to become a pilot in Australia. If you are ready to evaluate Fly Oz specifically,
Charter Ready qualifies you to fly commercially in Australia. You finish with a CPL and a multi-engine instrument rating on a Beechcraft Duchess or Baron, which is the type charter employers actively look for.
Instructor Ready adds a flight instructor rating to the Charter Ready qualification. It is a deliberate first posting: you build hours fast, stay employed in aviation, and develop the kind of precision that airlines look for in future check and training roles.
This comes with two examinations; your Grade 3 is completed in Week 6, and a Design Feature endorsement completed in Week 8. We also include a Spin Flight Activity Endorsement and Basic Instrument Flight (BIF).
Develop the skills to fly confidently in a wider range of weather conditions with an Instrument Rating. Included in the Charter Ready and Instructor Ready packages.
Be fully equipped to instruct student pilots from day one to commercial level. Included in the Instructor Ready package.
A VET Student Loan is an Australian Government loan that helps eligible students pay tuition fees for diploma-level courses.
All Fly Oz Diploma of Aviation courses are eligible for a VET Student Loan.
Australian citizens or permanent residents only. Minimum 20 hours of face-to-face attendance per week required.
A loan fee applies. The VET Tuition Fee Schedule is included in the course brochure. Review the loan terms carefully before applying.

I completed my Multi-Engine Instrument Rating at this college and found the training to be well-structured, focused, and professional. The environment supported growth, with instructors who truly cared about helping students become confident, capable pilots.

Charter Pilot
Having been to a few flight schools for various licences and ratings, Fly Oz has by far been the best experience on my Aviation Journey. All the staff are amongst some of the nicest, helpful and genuine people you’ll meet in Aviation who show the utmost respect and care for you and your training needs. They set a high standard for quality over quantity and produce highly competent and confident pilots in the industry through their ability to help you realise your potential in a positive training environment.

Charter Pilot
I’ve just completed my Design Features Endorsements (Retractable undercarriage & Manual Propeller Pitch Control) with Fly Oz. I cannot speak highly enough of the professionalism displayed from the CEO/owners down through to the office staff and the 3 instructors I dealt with (I have no doubt the others are just as brilliant given how the organisation is run).
